More DLC Coming in the Future?

It is highly likely that "Cold Darkness Awakened" (please check our latest blog post on tumblr for details) wasn't the last DLC to come out for Rise of the Tomb Raider. A leakage has revealed that another DLC idea was being explored by the team. Requests by fans and the fact that this year celebrates 20 years of Tomb Raider made this possible. Keep your eyes open for updates that may come our way.

An official statement has been issued on the subject:

Quoted

“As some eagle-eyed Rise of the Tomb Raider players have discovered, two placeholder movies were accidentally included in the latest patch. This content was not meant to be released, but now that it is we wanted to respond to the questions we’ve received as a result. The movies are part of a DLC expansion we’re exploring for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Our fans continue to enjoy Rise of the Tomb Raider and its DLC, including Cold Darkness Awakened which released on Tuesday, and we receive many requests for additional story content. We’re always listening to feedback from our fans; especially this year as we celebrate 20 years of the iconic Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider franchise together.”

Shutting Down a Base in Cold Darkness

We are taking a look back at Cold Darkness Awakened, the latest downloadable content for Rise of the Tomb Raider and explain to you how to shut down a base.

Preview: "The order in which you tackle the three towers doesn’t matter. Just pick whichever you like to begin with. On your way, make sure you collect resources that will help you getting into the towers. You may need fire or explosives, to overcome barricades. Also grab a few weapons to improve your arsenal and free prisoners you come across to gain skills."

Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4

The long anticipated launch of Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4 will happen on 11 October 2016 as the so called "20 Year Celebration Edition".
The game will come with all to-date available DLC, new DLC and PlayStation VP support.

The Return of Croft Manor
Two new chapters added to the game will be "Blood Ties" and "Lara's Nightmare". In Blood Ties we return to c´Croft Manor to unlock its mysteries and in Lara's Nightmare we have to defend the manor against an undead invasion. Blood Ties can be played in first person, using the Virtual Reality features of PlayStation VR.

Endurance Mode Co-Op
Endurance mode will come with a new co-op feature.

Extreme Survivor Difficulty
Another new feature is the "Extreme Survivor" difficulty, which disables checkpoints and will only allow you to save your game at base camps, after spending the necessary resources to light a fire.

Summary:
Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration (PS4) includes:

  • Award-winning Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Brutal new “Extreme Survivor” difficulty mode (no checkpoints)
  • “Blood Ties” & “Lara’s Nightmare” premium DLC

  • Classic Lara card pack which will allow fans to play “Expedition Modes” using one of several classic Lara models
  • All existing DLC including “Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch” and “Cold Darkness Awakened”, 12 outfits, 7 weapons, 35 Expedition Cards, and more
  • Support for PlayStation VR that challenges players to unlock the mysteries of Croft Manor in first person

Launch Trailer

The launch trailer for "Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration" released today, shows scenes from the base game and the DLCs Cold Darkness and Baba Yaga, already known from the Xbox and PC versions, as well as scenes from "Blood Ties" and "Lara's Nightmare", taking place in Croft Manor, and the Endurance Mode. While the main hall and the library of Croft Manor are visible, you hear Lara saying "There has to be some kind of evidence of what happened to mom in the manor.", hinting at that Lara's family background will be explored in this add-on.

As the trailer once again reminds us, the 20 Year Celebration will include all outfits and weapons, as well as a new highest difficulty setting.

Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration is released on 11th October 2016.

PlayStation gamers may be interested in learning that the trophy list has been released. It is very similar to the Xbox One Achievement list. From the base game only the trophy "For my next trick..." is missing and in some DLCs the more simple trophies have been omitted; e.g. in Endurance Mode you will still find the trophy "Master Archaeologist" ("Collect at least 10 Artifacts in a single expedition") but not "Archaeologist" ("Collect at least 5 Artifacts in a single expedition).

A full overview of the trophy and achievement list can be found here:
